Paneer and THE ART WE CREATED WITH IT!
Wondering, If even the caption was correct? By now, most of our friends who visit the page might know that we have a huge inclination for painting and coloring. With winter setting in and outdoor play coming to a minimum.. new indoor options had to be worked out for children. That's when we came up with a few ideas and here it goes.. Bored of using paper to paint, We decided to look for other painting surfaces and that's how we zeroed in on Paneer! Now why Paneer? Yes. Paneer was bought a day before and was there to be made into a dish - the intention is to use what's readily available and make a new play set up with it. Besides that Paneer being soft, squishy was perfect for a hands-on sensory experience. Then came the, how to paint and what to paint part? This was a daunting task, as all of us were excited and filled in with many ideas, so narrowing on one had to be left to the kids. Finally, they came up with, MAKE A PAN(EER) CAKE!! (As my daughter's birthday was nearing.) Yes! We went in all Pastry and Sweet treats. Decided to make and paint, a CAKE, STICK ICE CREAM, CANDY, cheese slice (of course not a sweet) and others.. using paneer First we sliced the Paneer into thick layers of 3- for a three-tier painted paneer cake. Then with a few cake references, we colored them using food colors diluted in water applied with a brush, just like water colors. Then came the fun part of layering them, and it looked so like a cake, just that it can't be eaten! Next-We went on to making ICE CREAM.. We cut the paneer in the shape of a rectangle and inserted an ice cream stick onto it. Coloring as suggested by my daughter, the paneer was dipped into her favourite food color and painted the rest with brush in contrast shades. The colors were POPPING out, it was a visual treat. There you go PANEER ICECREAM is ready.. only to be pictured... we made quite a few, as all of us wanted to paint the paneer ice cream. We did the same for PANEER CHOCOLATE BAR adding brown food color and slicing it to mimic a bar of chocolate. PANEER POP, CHEESE SLICES and more.. This being our first attempt at trying an activity on PANEER, was worth every minute spent on creating and coloring our favourite sweets. Let us know your take on the same and we will be happy to see your creations. Allergen Alert: PANEER is made from milk. For anybody with milk allergies, you may choose to avoid this activity. THIS IDEA IS ENTIRELY MEANT FOR PLAY. NOT TO BE EATEN. Adult supervision is required.
